Deferred payments

Contents

A charge, or an amount, split into monthly installments: the client commits to a plan, you follow it installment by installment and, with a saved card, each one charges itself.

Turning deferred payments on

Configuración → Pagos diferidos switches the feature on for your institution and sets its rules: terms, minimum amount, concepts and the portal.

1. Switch it on and set the rules

Configuración → Pagos diferidos holds the institution's switch and the rules every plan follows: the allowed terms (say 3, 6 and 12 months), the minimum amount to defer, whether a saved card is required and whether the first installment is charged today or next month.

You can limit which concepts may be deferred; with none ticked, every concept is eligible.

The portal has its own switch and its own concept: the one used when a client schedules an amount with no underlying charges. Turn it on last, once the rules are the way you want them.

Creating and following plans

Contabilidad → Pagos diferidos lists every plan with its paid installments, balance and next installment; from there you create them, link a card and cancel them.

1. See the plans

Contabilidad → Pagos diferidos shows one plan per row: client, concept, total, installment, how many installments are paid out of how many, balance, next installment, overdue installments, whether it was born in the portal or created by an operator, and whether a card is linked.

The views separate plans in progress from finished ones; a cancelled plan keeps its installments and its history.

Every installment is an ordinary charge with its own date: it shows in Transacciones and on statements as «cuota 2/6», counts toward the client's balance and can be paid through any channel. On statements, installments dated after the cut are set apart as «por vencer».

2. Create a plan

Nuevo plan asks for the client and where the money comes from: converting pending charges (one or several, same concept, no partial payments) or an amount with no underlying charges under a concept.

Pick the term, the first installment's date and, if the client has a saved card, link it so each installment charges itself on its date. The preview shows the installments before you save; the odd centavo lands on the first one.

On save, the converted charges leave the pending list — they stay recorded as the plan's origin — and every installment is created with its date. The client gets one email with the whole plan; not one notice per installment.

A plan is not edited: if the terms change, cancel it and create another.

3. Follow each installment

Opening a plan shows its installments one by one: date, amount, balance, status and the last charge attempt when a card is linked. From there you link or remove the card and send the link for the client to register one.

With a card, each installment is charged in the early hours of its date; if the charge fails it is retried like any recurring charge and the bell tells you. Without a card, on the morning each installment falls due the client gets an email reminder with the link to their portal (Configuración → Emails turns it off).

The plan closes by itself once the last installment is paid.

4. Cancel a plan

Cancelar plan de pagos stops the charges and the reminders; it forgives nothing: whatever installments remain unpaid stay as ordinary pending charges.

If you also want them gone, tick Eliminar las cuotas sin pagos: only installments with no partial payments and no payment in progress are removed; a partially paid installment is always kept. The charges the plan came from are not restored.

The client chooses installments

From their portal, the client turns what they owe into an installment plan without you stepping in — if you allow it.

1. Paying in installments from the portal

With the portal switched on in Configuración → Pagos diferidos, under the pay bar the client sees ¿Prefieres pagar en cuotas? There they pick which charges to convert — or a free amount — and the term, and see how their payments will look before confirming.

They can be charged to a saved card, register a new one right there or stay without a card and pay each installment through the usual channels. With a card, the first installment is charged on confirmation if it is due today.

Each client may hold up to three active plans created from the portal; the ones you create do not count toward that limit.

2. What the client receives

When the plan is born, an email with the full installment calendar and how they will be collected. Afterwards, each installment without a card produces a reminder on the morning it falls due, with the link to the portal; installments with a card do not warn — they are charged.

In their portal, overdue installments come preselected for payment; future ones are shown but not ticked on their own.
